ABOUT ME...
First of all, let me tell you a little about myself. I have a daughter, daughter-in-law, and son. I am also "Nana" to a precious two year old, and I will be "Nana" again this year to a little girl! I also have an adorable twelve year old pug, who is my faithful companion. I love animals because I grew up on a farm in Indiana where my family raised beef cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, sheep, and AKC boxer dogs. At different times, we even had a donkey, goats, rabbits, and a pony. So, as you can see, it really was just like "Old MacDonald's Farm".
Next, let me tell you a little about my professional background. I earned my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Indiana University of South Bend. My degrees are in Secondary English (5-12), Reading, and ESL (PreK-12). My coursework included several classes in Reading Intervention Strategies. I have taught students in high school, middle school, and elementary schools. In addition, I had the privilege of teaching Adult English Learners.
Finally, let me mention how much I treasure each family that I am privileged to get to know. I really appreciate each of you making time each evening to look at your child's folder which contains papers and important notes. I also appreciate when you make sure that your child reads each day for 10 or 15 minutes, and that he/she completes assigned homework. It also warms my heart to see you at Parent/Teacher Conferences and various events held throughout the year at Arlington Elementary. Please stop in and see me when you are at school events. My room number is 209.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or your child's teacher by writing a note or sending an email.
I look forward to working with you as a partner in your child's education.
Sincerely,
Connie Gunter
Interventionist
